A college student was stabbed to death in Rajshahi early today when he was going to his village home in Dinajpur to celebrate Eid.

Fardin Isna Asharia Rabbi, 18, son of Mozaffar of Parbatipur upazila of Dinajpur, was a second-year student of science group at Rajshahi Government City College, said Nibaron Chandra Burman, officer-in-charge of Boalia Police Station.

Informed by locals, police recovered his body lying in a pool of blood on a footpath near Bornali intersection at 6:00am, OC  added.

“It is a planned murder,” the police official said adding that his body bore a single stab mark on his head while his travel bag, watch, mobile phone and wallet were found intact on the scene.

After talking to Rabbi’s family members through his mobile phone, police told that Rabbi called his sister before leaving his dormitory located in Hetomkhan area and told her he would catch Titumir Express in the morning.

Police, however, are yet to be confirmed about the reason behind the murder.
